Hydroactive has been training new divers in and around Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire for more than 20 years. Now is the time to dive into the PADI Open Water Diver course, the most popular dive course in the world! This is your ticket to a lifetime of intense adventure with Hydroactive, the dive company that sets the standards in the global diving community.
*Why PADI Open Water?*
As a certified PADI Open Water Diver, the most widely recognized and respected rating in the world, you have the freedom to dive with a buddy independent of a professional. If you have already tried a PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience or are PADI Scuba Diver certified, check with your instructor to see how credit from these courses may apply to the open water program.
*What do I need to start?*
Virtually anyone who is in good health, reasonably fit, and comfortable in the water can earn a PADI Open Water Diver certification. If you are between 10 and 14 or have a child between these ages, there is a PADI Junior Open Water Diver program available.
A PADI Junior Open Water Diver between the ages of 10 and 11 years may only dive with a PADI Professional or a certified parent/guardian to a maximum depth of 12 meters/40 feet. A PADI Junior Open Water Diver between the ages of 12 and 14 may dive with a certified adult to a maximum depth of 18 meters/60 feet.
*What Diving Equipment will I need?*
Hydroactive will supply the scuba equipment for the pool and open water sessions. There is no extra charge for use of the equipment. You are required to purchase your own wetsuit boots for hygiene reasons and it is recommended that you obtain your own mask, snorkel, fins, and gloves. We have a large selection to choose from, and offer student specials.
*When do the classes meet?*
At Hydroactive we offer a variety of schedules to meet individual needs. Classes can be taken over weekends or on evenings during the week.
We also offer private courses for those who want a more personal experience in learning to dive. The benefit of our private diver training facility means students can relax and enjoy learning to dive in their own time.
*What is home study?*
Studying the PADI course manual,DVD set and completing the knowledge reviews, allows the Instructor to check for adequate knowledge and makes the classroom session shorter, getting you in the pool and openwater dives faster!
*What will I do?*
Throughout the course, you will learn fundamentals of scuba diving, including dive equipment and techniques. You earn this rating by completing five pool dives and knowledge development sessions and by making four open water dives.
The open water dives are done at the National Diving Centre in Leicestershire and allow you to swim around submarines and airplane cockpits with hundreds of fish! A Referral course is where you complete the pool dives and knowledge development sessions with Hydroactive in the UK, then complete the qualifying open water dives at a PADI dive centre of your choice abroad (whilst on holiday for example).
*How long will it take?*
PADI programs are performance based. You proceed as you demonstrate mastery of the course skills. This allows you to work at a pace that is comfortable for you. As it is our own private training facility we are not time based unlike many other schools.
*What will I need?*
PADI Open Water Crewpak inc DVDs, logbook and eRDPML (supplied FREE with the course)
